About UI & Product Design

UI and product design shapes how people move through an app or web platform, from the first screen to the task they came to complete. We design interfaces, user journeys, prototypes and design systems for products at different stages — whether a business is starting with an idea or addressing something that is not working.

The work can cover iOS and Android apps, web platforms or both. The scope depends on the product and the brief: it might be a set of key screens, a connected journey or a wider product experience.

UI & product design should solve the product problem, not just style the screen

An interface is only useful when it helps someone understand what to do next. We look at the product’s users, purpose and journeys, then design the screens and interactions around those needs. Prototypes can make an idea easier to review before it is built, while accessibility informs the design rather than being left as a last-minute check.

The work suits established businesses refining an existing platform as well as startups shaping an idea. A detailed brief helps us understand what needs to be designed and cost the work accurately. If the brief is still taking shape, the scope can be discussed before it is priced.

A considered design system makes the product easier to extend

Products grow, and the interface needs to hold together as they do. We can create design systems and component libraries that give screens a consistent foundation. For City Lodge Hotels, the work covered marketing, content, account and booking journeys across 100+ responsive screens, supported by a 3,000+ component design system. The booking experience also met AA accessibility standards and gave travellers ways to correct mistakes.

For Switches International, we created a full Figma design system alongside a catalogue website for 1,000+ industrial products. The design made product archive and detail pages easier to browse, with enquiry routes suited to a business built around technical support rather than online checkout.

The right interface depends on the product and its users

A social app, a booking journey and a large product catalogue have different jobs to do. Braai League brought posts, Flames, profiles and a leaderboard together across iOS, Android and the web. Its core loop gives users a way to share a braai, receive Flames and compete for Braai of the Month. Kreate’s published work includes the product’s UX/UI system and component library.

We also design for simpler, more focused needs. For RBCCCI, the website’s document hub lets users search, read and download documents, while a contractor database lists active, compliant companies. These projects show why product design starts with the task and the information people need, not a default layout.

How we work

01

Understand the brief

We clarify the product, its users and what needs attention. The detail available at this stage helps define and cost the scope.

02

Map the journeys

We organise the key tasks and paths through the product before designing the screens. The journeys depend on what the product needs to let people do.

03

Design the interface

We create the relevant screens and, where useful, a design system or component library. Prototypes can be used to make the proposed experience easier to review.

04

Prepare the work for build

We document the interface and its behaviour for the next stage of the project. Development may sit with the client’s team or a development partner, depending on the engagement.

Questions

How much does UI and product design cost?

It depends on the scope. A more detailed brief makes it easier to cost the work, and larger projects can be priced by milestones.

Can you design for iOS and Android?

Yes. iOS and Android are part of the service. Published work includes Braai League, a cross-platform product for iOS, Android and the web.

Do you work with startups as well as larger companies?

Yes. The work can suit a startup with a product idea or an established business addressing something that is not working.

Can you work with our in-house product or engineering team?

Yes. Kreate works with client teams through normal project processes. The exact collaboration depends on the team and the engagement.

Kreate. are true professionals in every aspect. They listened to our needs, offered relevant options, were prompt to respond to all my questions, and most importantly, they never BS’d me about anything. Kudos to the Kreate. team for making it happen! I will be pursuing future projects with them and highly recommend them to anyone in the market for a professional website.
